TikTok Trends We've Been Loving

From memes to movements, we’re talking about TikTok’s cultural impact.

TikTok trends are like fashion for the internet. They're always changing, and you never know what's going to be hot next week! One day, everyone's doing the "Say So" dance, and the next, it's how “Demure, cutesy and mindful” we all are - It's a wild ride, but that's what makes it fun!

We are now over halfway through 2024, and the world of social media is changing every day—especially TikTok and its ever-changing trends that users just have to join in with!

August has left us feeling ‘Very Demure’ ‘Very Cutesy’ and ‘Very Mindful’. You may be wondering what the hell we are talking about, but let's get into how Jooles Lebron has taken over the internet this August.

Very Demure TikTok trend

Earlier this month, Jooles shared a 40-second TikTok discussing how she does her makeup for work, thinking nothing of it, little did she know this TikTok would take off and reach more than 41 million views on the platform! From this viral 40 seconds, Jooles has worked with the likes on Netflix, and Fenty Beauty, and has even been featured on the Jimmy Kimmel Show with RuPaul discussing her rise to fame.

The hold Jooles has had on the world has been incredible, and not only have individuals taken to their own platforms to share their ‘mindful’ activities, but huge brands and businesses have joined in too!

Wide angle finger TikTok trend

Diving into a fun little trend from earlier this month which has been labelled the ‘wide angle finger’ trend, unbeknown where this came from, it’s a very simple 8-10 second video with a wide angle of someone's finger to the 2002 ‘Mr Bean’ theme tune, gesturing no. Which has been another huge hit on TikTok, with the sound reaching over 600,000 videos!

The iconic image of Mr Bean pointing his finger has been repurposed countless times on TikTok, often with humorous or ironic twists.

This trend has not only contributed to the ongoing popularity of meme culture, which relies on the creative recontextualisation of familiar images and phrases but also serves as a versatile and relatable meme template.

Chappell Roan TikTok trend

We’re ‘gonna serve exactly what you are … C-’ ulturally impacted by the amazing Chappell Roan and her trend which some huge brands have been using!

From Chappell Roan’s performance at Coachella earlier this year, shouting the phrase ‘I’m gonna serve exactly what you are … C-” has become another trending sound this August with the creativity of individuals and brands utilising the cut out to their advantage!

A great example of this is Clarks Shoes - recently switching up their social media strategy to portray a younger demographic, Clarks Shoes used this sound to their advantage and edited this sound to cut at just the right time to say “Clarks, quality comfort since 1825”! This TikTok has over 1 million views, and is just one of the many successful TikTok that has used this sound!

TikTok trends this August 2024 have continued to shape and influence our culture in profound ways. From viral dance challenges to thought-provoking discussions, these trends have sparked conversations, brought people and brands together, and challenged traditional norms! Whether it's through humour, empowerment, or social commentary, TikTok has proven to be a powerful platform for cultural expression and change. As we look ahead, it's clear that TikTok trends will continue to evolve and shape the way we interact with each other and the world around us.
